SERVICES

Your help is crucial

With as little as a few hours a week, your volunteer efforts can make a significant change for the better in a child's life. Many of these children are in a dire need of the right attention and care. We'll provide you with the training and knowledge. Join our growing community of volunteers today.

CASE MANAGEMENT

The chapter links sickle cell clients and their families with resources within the community that can address needs that fall outside the scope of the organization. These resources allow families to receive assistance and support that they are entitled to, but have little or no knowledge of how to access them. Follow-up contacts are also provided in an effort to ensure services needed were provided, and/or no additional service(s) is/are needed.

CLINICAL SUPPORT

The chapter supports children attending the Feist-Weiller Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center. Visits to the clinic allow us direct contact and interaction with clients while we address their needs and provide support and follow-up from those visits.

EDUCATIONAL

The chapter provides educational awareness to our clients with a diagnosis of sickle cell disease or trait and, to the parents/guardians of clients, as well as to the public. To break the sickle cycle, we must get information to those who need it the most, and this is done through health fairs, and presentations, at local schools, churches, and various civic and social organizations.

LIFE ASSISTANCE

The chapter assists adult clients with services to ease some of the additional expenses they incur. We also provide financial, rental, transportation, education, and prescription assistance.

“Volunteering not only benefits children with Sickle cell. It's something you - the volunteer- will carry with you forever, the experience of helping others and giving yourself to a rightful cause.”
